The road to mobile audience measurement is laced with ruts and obstacles. At the recent MRMW Asia conference in Kuala Lumpur, I gave a presentation on how Millward Brown is integrating the measurement of emotions using Affectiva’s facial coding technology for TV test advertisements. While this is typically done using a laptop by a consumer at home (CAWI) or at a central location (CAPI), the innovation of using a mobile phone was a breakthrough for us.
Given the high presence of mobile devices in India which are increasingly being used to deliver rich media, the possibilities of bringing this technology alive on mobile is a thrilling challenge. We dealt with the scepticism of screen size but knew the benefits of easy handling, so progressed ahead with the idea.
